I fucking LOVE vocaloid! both as a concept and in theory, its the coolest thing in the world for me.
If you dont know, vocaloid is a vocal synthesizer(hence its name) used to make vocals sing! the first installment of the software released all the way back in 2004, and only had 5 vocal releases! two of which are still popular today (MEIKO and KAITO)
This first installment wasnt nearly as impactful as the second software, vocaloid2.
Vocaloid2 had 22 commercial releases of voicebanks, and probably the one that really gave it a boost in popularity. Hatsune miku was first released for this version of the software, along with Luka and Kagamine Rin 'n Len.

altough Miku is the most popular vocaloid, and I do like a lot of the songs that use her voice, I cant really say she's my favorite. I really like Rin, especially JesusP's songs that use her and Len.
it wasnt unusual back in the day for people to repost videos, drawings and songs without credit, or just crediting the vocaloid used in the song instead of the composer.which is like. crediting a guitar for writting a song, if that makes sense.
I first heard about vocaloid in 4th grade when I was talking with a classmate and she told me to look up Hatsune miku and listen to world is mine. I did look her up but the song i first listened to was kocchi muite, baby (or, also called, "Look this way, baby")
i fell in love instantly! I started looking up more songs and eventually found out about the games and needless to say, i fixated on vocaloid for a big fraction of my life
The fandom has changed a lot in the years that ive been within it, a lot of people like me who have been here forever, but also a lot of younger people with the release of project sekai. I tried to play it, but its not really for me. I really like the project diva games tho.
i have a lot more to say bt little time to actually write and edit this, so for now i'll just leave it like this.
